Keep an AI search observation log.
Before comparing AI answers, you need to know what was asked, under which conditions and what was actually observed. This log preserves that record.
Define the question and context
Keep the exact wording, language, market and any extra instructions. Separate discovery, comparison and selection questions.
Record collection conditions
Note the engine, model where known, date, time and search mode. Record unknown conditions rather than assuming them.
Save the answer and its sources
Keep the answer text and the URLs actually cited. Distinguish a brand mention from a domain cited as a source.
Repeat before drawing conclusions
Compare observations collected under documented conditions. One answer cannot establish a change in visibility.
Connect observations to investigation
Identify what warrants further investigation in content, third-party sources or brand information. A missing citation alone does not establish a cause.
This template records observations. It does not measure market share or assign a universal visibility score. You need to collect and interpret the data yourself.
